Ion exchange and adsorption technology have found considerable application in the pharmaceutical industry. Working in conjunction with resin manufacturers such as Purolite International, Rohm and Haas, Dow and Mitsubishi, our personnel have been involved in the design, construction and commissioning of many successful process plants.

The chromatographic processes in this area perhaps benefit most from the optimisation of column hydraulics which has enabled us to achieve low mixing volumes and high product purity, as well as efficient regeneration and re-utilisation of the resin. Chromatographic applications with complete product recovery in as low as 0.5 BV have been achieved with Separation Technologies’ systems. We are familiar with the control requirements of the plant we design, and have developed Process Logics based on the column hydraulics, sufficient for the needs of software engineers. These comply with ISA sp88 committee recommendations.
