Separation Technologies have worked in the following areas of fruit juice applications without loss of desirable colour and/or flavour for clients in the USA, Japan, Israel and the UK:

  • Thiobendazole (TBZ) removal from apple juice
  • Patulin removal from apple juice
  • Limonin removal from orange juice

In addition, the customers were experiencing problems with resin regeneration in both apple juice and orange juice processing. Separation Technologies developed efficient regeneration cycles to combat polyphenol fouling of resins.

Our juice systems utilise a hygienic column design. To prevent the formation of off flavours within the resin bed and column all stagnant/dead areas have been eliminated from the design. Even flow over the entire bed area with the minimum of mixing volume to minimise the use of regenerants and maximise the efficiency of the loading cycle has been achieved in our unique systems.

As the design is modular, high processing flowrates in excess of 5 to 7 BV/hour can be achieved. As the physical size of juice systems tends to be relatively small, the columns are skid mounted with all associated regenerant and backwash facilities (if required).
